Rev. Gary B. MacDonald
Rev. Gary MacDonald’s ministry has focused on walking with persons and communities to experience the reality of the love of Jesus Christ and encourage missional imagination for the work of God in the neighborhood and the world. Gary began his ministry with a congregation in the city of Lynn, Mass., before extending his service on the senior administrative staffs at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology in Dallas and Duke Divinity School in Durham, where Gary worked to empower the ministry of clergy, youth pastors, church musicians, Christian educators, church innovators, and persons in the pews. Before accepting his call to ordained ministry he worked in public relations for the high technology industry in the Boston area. He studied journalism at Northeastern University and earned his M.Div. and Ph.D. in religious ethics from SMU. He is married to Dr. Heidi Miller, a professor of practical theology at Pfeiffer University. They have four grown sons and a grandson, and live in Charlotte in intentional community with Heidi’s parents, Ed and Wendy Miller.
